AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu (USN-8029-1) confirms that this issue is fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update their Linux kernel to the fixed versions as provided by their distribution to mitigate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem related to cls_bpf_classify() was identified and resolved. The issue involved cls_bpf_classify() being able to modify the drop_reason field in the tc_skb_cb structure, causing warnings in sk_skb_reason_drop(). This was due to a conflict introduced by recent kernel commits affecting net_sched storage and BPF data pointers. The vulnerability has been fixed by adding a new helper function, bpf_prog_run_data_pointers(), to properly save and restore net_sched storage and avoid collision with BPF data_meta/data_end.
