A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-hwe-edge kernel versions. Updating to the fixed kernel versions resolves the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ALSA hda cs35l41 driver was fixed. The issue occurs because the function acpi_get_first_physical_node() can return NULL, leading to a subsequent unchecked dereference of a NULL pointer in get_device(). This flaw could cause a kernel crash. The vulnerability affects multiple linux-hwe-edge kernel versions prior to 6.8.0-1051.51~22.04.1 and similar builds. A patch is available to address this issue.
