A patch is available that fixes the error handling logic in ima_match_rules(). Systems should be updated to a fixed Linux kernel version to resolve this issue. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of this fix. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Integrity Measurement Architecture (IMA) was resolved where an error code from ima_filter_rule_match() was improperly handled. This caused the system to incorrectly consider a Linux Security Module (LSM) rule as matched, leading to extra files being measured by IMA. The issue occurs when the SELinux policy module is unloaded and an IMA measurement is triggered before the rules are updated, resulting in a false positive match. The flaw was fixed by changing the error handling condition to properly detect error codes and prevent false matches.
