A patch is available and should be applied to correct the devlink creation logic in the Linux kernel LED backlight subsystem. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution or vendor.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's backlight LED subsystem caused improper devlink creation between LED backlight consumers and their LED class device suppliers. This flaw led to incorrect device removal order, potentially causing kernel NULL pointer dereferences and system instability when LED drivers were removed before their consumers. The issue was fixed by correctly establishing devlink relationships between consuming backlight devices and supplying LED devices.
