An official fix is available and has been released in updated Linux kernel packages for linux-aws. Users should apply the vendor-provided kernel updates to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the patch.

Description

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net/hsr subsystem was fixed. The flaw occurs in the function prp_get_untagged_frame(), which calls __pskb_copy() without checking for allocation failure. If __pskb_copy() returns NULL, a subsequent call to skb_clone() with a NULL pointer causes a kernel crash (general protection fault). This issue has been addressed by adding a NULL check after __pskb_copy() to prevent crashes. The vulnerability affects multiple linux-aws kernel versions prior to specific patched releases. A fix is available as part of the Linux kernel updates.
