A patch is available and has been applied in updated Linux kernel versions as indicated by the affected version ranges. Users should update their Linux kernel to versions newer than the affected ones to remediate this memory leak. No additional mitigation steps are required.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netrom subsystem was fixed. The issue occurred when the function sock_alloc_send_skb() returned NULL in nr_output(), causing the originally allocated socket buffer (skb) in nr_sendmsg() not to be freed. This could lead to memory leaks. The vulnerability has been addressed by freeing the skb before returning. The fix is included in updated Linux kernel versions.
