AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions after the affected versions listed. Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version to resolve this issue. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fix. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's perf subsystem on AMD x86 machines could cause a general protection fault (GPF) due to a null pointer dereference triggered by a race condition. This issue occurs when the CPU event pointer becomes NULL in a subtle race involving non-maskable interrupts and event throttling. The flaw was reported by Syzkaller and affects AMD processors only. It has been resolved in Linux kernel versions after the affected releases.
