A security update fixing this vulnerability is available and should be applied. Ubuntu has released patched Linux kernel versions addressing this issue. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as specified in the vendor advisory. No additional mitigations are indicated beyond applying the official patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's caif subsystem was fixed to address an integer underflow in the cffrml_receive() function. The flaw occurs when the function subtracts 2 from a length field without verifying that the length is at least 2, leading to underflow if the length is 0 or 1. This can cause memory exhaustion and kernel instability, with potential information disclosure from uninitialized kernel memory. The issue affects certain Linux kernel versions prior to specific 5.15.0 updates. A patch is available and has been released by Ubuntu.
