Description

Zosi C519M version 4.2.8.823C01450BA contains hardcoded credentials in its RTSP authentication mechanism. This incorrect access control vulnerability allows an attacker with network access to use these unchangeable default credentials to access the RTSP video stream. This results in unauthorized viewing of camera footage. The vulnerability has a high severity score of 7.5 and does not require user interaction or privileges to exploit.

Technical Analysis

The Zosi C519M V4.2.8.823C01450BA device is affected by an incorrect access control vulnerability (CWE-284) due to hardcoded credentials in the RTSP authentication mechanism. An attacker on the same network can leverage these fixed credentials to gain unauthorized access to the RTSP video stream, exposing camera footage without needing any privileges or user interaction. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.5, reflecting high confidentiality impact but no integrity or availability impact. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available, and no known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Potential Impact

An attacker with network access can bypass authentication controls by using hardcoded RTSP credentials, leading to unauthorized disclosure of video streams from the affected camera. This compromises the confidentiality of the camera footage but does not affect integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to the device's RTSP service to trusted users only and consider network segmentation to limit exposure. Monitor for any vendor updates regarding patches or configuration changes that allow credential modification.
