A fix for this vulnerability is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits identified by their hashes. Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to resolve the SLB multihit issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.
Description
CVE-2025-71078 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting the powerpc/64s architecture with hash MMU. It involves a synchronization issue between the hardware Segment Lookaside Buffer (SLB) and the software SLB preload cache during context switches across CPUs. This can cause stale SLB entries to persist in hardware, leading to SLB multi-hit errors when processes migrate between CPUs without proper MMU context switching. The issue is fixed in specific Linux kernel commits.
