A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. After updating, a system reboot is required to complete remediation. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's User-Mode Linux (UML) subsystem was fixed by initializing the cpu_tasks[] array earlier to prevent crashes when KCOV is enabled. The issue caused crashes due to uninitialized current task pointers during certain initialization sequences. This flaw was addressed by statically initializing the cpu_tasks[] array. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 6.17.0 builds specified in the advisory. A patch is available and should be applied.
