A patch is available and should be applied. The vendor advisory confirms that the issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel packages. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions and reboot to apply the changes. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's powerpc/kexec subsystem was resolved that involved enabling Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) before waking offline CPUs. If SMT was disabled or partially enabled, loading a new kernel image via kexec could cause a warning and failure to wake certain CPUs properly. This was due to a failure in cpu_bootable() checks related to SMT thread allowance. The issue has been fixed by enabling SMT and resetting the number of SMT threads before waking CPUs.
