AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix properly frees allocated memory on usb_submit_urb() failure to prevent the memory leak. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as indicated in the vendor advisory. No additional mitigations are specified or required.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtl8150 USB network driver was fixed. The issue occurs when usb_submit_urb() fails in async_set_registers(), causing allocated memory not to be freed. This leads to a memory leak as the completion callback responsible for freeing memory is not invoked on submission failure. The flaw affects certain Linux kernel versions prior to specific patch releases. A fix is available that properly frees memory on error paths.
