AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been incorporated into updated Linux kernel packages for affected Ubuntu releases. Users should apply the relevant kernel updates and reboot their systems to ensure the vulnerability is remediated. Due to an ABI change in the kernel updates, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. Follow vendor instructions for updating and rebuilding kernel modules as necessary.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's at91-sama5d2_adc driver. The flaw occurs when scheduled work referencing a device structure is executed after the device has been freed during module removal, potentially leading to use of freed memory. This issue was resolved by ensuring that scheduled work is canceled before device cleanup proceeds. The vulnerability affects certain Linux kernel versions prior to 5.15.0-1105.112~20.04.1 and related builds. A patch is available and included in updated Linux kernel packages. Users should update and reboot to apply the fix.
