Description

CVE-2025-71429 is a critical OS command injection vulnerability in the GPT-SoVITS software by RVC-Boss. It affects versions up to and including 20250606v2pro. The flaw exists in the tools/uvr5/vr.py component, allowing unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands by injecting shell substitutions into output folder path inputs in the UVR5 WebUI when exporting mp3 or m4a files.

Technical Analysis

GPT-SoVITS versions up to 20250606v2pro contain an OS command injection vulnerability in the tools/uvr5/vr.py file. The vulnerability arises because the software does not properly neutralize special shell elements in user-supplied output folder paths. Attackers can exploit this by entering shell substitution syntax such as $(...) in the UVR5 WebUI output folder textboxes during mp3 or m4a export operations, resulting in arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the server user. This vulnerability requires no authentication and has a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.3, indicating critical severity.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the server hosting GPT-SoVITS. This can lead to full system compromise, data theft, service disruption, or further attacks within the environment. The vulnerability affects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the UVR5 WebUI to trusted users only and avoid using untrusted input in output folder path fields. Monitor for updates from RVC-Boss and apply patches promptly once released.
