Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Google Android arises from improper input validation in multiple functions of the ubsan_throwing_runtime.cpp component. An attacker can remotely trigger a system crash resulting in denial of service without needing user interaction or elevated privileges. The affected Android versions include 14, 15, 16, and 16-qpr2. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.5, reflecting a medium severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no impact on confidentiality or integrity but high impact on availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes a denial of service by crashing the system, impacting availability. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, and no additional privileges are required for exploitation. User interaction is not necessary, increasing the risk of remote attacks causing service disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or temporary workaround is currently documented, monitoring the official Google Android security advisories for updates is recommended.
