Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Cap-go
Product: capgo.app

Description

CVE-2026-100615 is a high-severity vulnerability in Cap-go's capgo.app versions before 12.267.1. The flaw involves improper privilege management during API key rotation, allowing users with the apikey_manager role to rotate and recover plaintext credentials of higher-privileged org_super_admin sibling API keys. This enables privilege escalation by authenticating as a more privileged principal.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in capgo.app prior to version 12.267.1 arises from failure to validate the privilege level of target API keys during rotation. An attacker with the apikey_manager role can enumerate API keys owned by the same organization, rotate a sibling key with higher privileges via the PUT endpoint, and obtain the new plaintext secret. This allows the attacker to impersonate the higher-privileged org_super_admin role, effectively escalating their privileges within the system.

Potential Impact

Attackers with apikey_manager privileges can escalate their access by obtaining plaintext credentials of higher-privileged API keys, potentially compromising organizational security and access controls. This can lead to unauthorized actions performed with elevated privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version is available starting from 12.267.1. Users should upgrade to version 12.267.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided in the vendor advisory; applying the official fix is the recommended action.
