Published: 10/01/2026 (10/01/2026, 06:00:23 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: Featured Image from URL (FIFU)

Description

The Featured Image from URL (FIFU) WordPress plugin before 6.0.8, Featured Image from URL (FIFU) Premium WordPress plugin before 8.2.8 do not correctly enforce the REST API nonce, disabling the check for the whole request when a crafted URL is used, which could allow attackers to make a logged-in administrator perform any REST API action, such as creating a new administrator account, via a CSRF attack.

Technical Analysis

The Featured Image from URL (FIFU) WordPress plugin before versions 6.0.8 and 8.2.8 (Premium) fails to correctly enforce REST API nonce validation for certain requests involving crafted URLs. This disables the nonce check for the entire request, enabling a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attack. An attacker can exploit this by causing a logged-in administrator to unknowingly execute arbitrary REST API actions, including creating new administrator accounts. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-101147 and is categorized under CWE-352.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to perform any REST API action as a logged-in administrator without their consent, including creating new administrator accounts. This leads to full compromise of the WordPress site with high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Featured Image from URL (FIFU) versions 6.0.8 and 8.2.8 (Premium). Users should upgrade to these versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided, and patching is the recommended action.
