Technical Analysis

In Octopus Server versions >=2019.4.1 <2026.1.11781, >=2026.2.0 <2026.2.13441, and >=2026.3.0 <2026.3.15829, an authenticated user with permissions to edit an Environment or Project can provide specially crafted JSON content. Due to insecure deserialization of this JSON, the user can execute arbitrary code in the Octopus Server process. This vulnerability is tracked as CWE-502 (Deserialization of Untrusted Data) and has a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7, indicating high severity.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with limited privileges to execute arbitrary code on the Octopus Server, potentially leading to full compromise of the server process. This elevates the risk of unauthorized actions and control within the affected environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in versions 2026.1.11781 and later, 2026.2.13441 and later, and 2026.3.15829 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or temporary workarounds.
