CVE-2026-102184: CWE-1284 Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input in Juniper Networks Junos OS
Description
An Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos Evolved platforms allows a configured EVPN signaling peer to cause an rpd crash via a malformed SRv6 structure carried in an EVPN route update. The result is a denial of service affecting routing adjacencies.

Technical Analysis
This vulnerability (CVE-2026-102184) arises from improper validation of input quantities in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos Evolved platforms. A configured EVPN signaling peer can send a malformed SRv6 structure in an EVPN route update, triggering a crash of the rpd process. This leads to denial of service by affecting routing adjacencies. The issue is tracked under CWE-1284 (Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input). The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.5, indicating high severity, with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and impact limited to availability (no confidentiality or integrity impact).
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation causes the routing protocol daemon (rpd) to crash, resulting in denial of service that disrupts routing adjacencies on affected Junos OS and Junos Evolved devices. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. No known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, network administrators should consider limiting or monitoring EVPN signaling peer connections to trusted entities to reduce exposure. No vendor advisory or patch links were provided in the input data.
