Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Eclipse Foundation
Product: Eclipse Vert.x

Description

CVE-2026-102467 is a high-severity vulnerability in Eclipse Vert.x affecting versions 4.0.0 through 4.5.34, 5.0.0 through 5.0.12, 5.1.0 through 5.1.9, and version 5.2.0. The WebSocket implementation lacks a defined maximum byte allocation when decompressing frames or messages, which can be exploited to cause denial-of-service attacks using zip bombs.

Technical Analysis

Eclipse Vert.x versions >=4.0.0 <=4.5.34, >=5.0.0 <=5.0.12, >=5.1.0 <=5.1.9, and =5.2.0 contain a vulnerability in the WebSocket component (io.vertx:vertx-core) where no maximum byte allocation limit is set during decompression of frames or messages. This flaw allows an attacker to craft compressed payloads (zip bombs) that can exhaust system resources, leading to denial-of-service conditions.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to perform denial-of-service (DoS) attacks by sending specially crafted compressed WebSocket frames that cause excessive memory allocation during decompression. This can degrade or disrupt service availability.
