Users should monitor the Eclipse Foundation's advisories for updates and apply patches once released. Until then, consider implementing network-level protections or HTTP gateway rules to detect and block malformed HTTP headers that could exploit this vulnerability.
Description
CVE-2026-102479 is a high-severity HTTP request smuggling vulnerability in Eclipse Vert.x versions 5.0.0 through 5.0.12, 5.1.0 through 5.1.9, and 5.2.0. The issue arises from the HTTP/1.x decoder's canonicalization process, which incorrectly interprets certain crafted headers (e.g., Content-Xength as Content-Length). This flaw can be exploited to perform HTTP request smuggling attacks, potentially impacting the integrity of HTTP request processing.
