Technical Analysis

The Modern Events Calendar Lite and Pro WordPress plugins prior to version 7.37.0 contain a SQL Injection vulnerability (CWE-89) due to improper sanitization and escaping of a parameter used in SQL queries. This allows authenticated users with at least Subscriber-level privileges to inject additional SQL commands into existing queries, enabling unauthorized data extraction from the database. The vulnerability affects all versions from 0 up to but not including 7.37.0.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive database information by authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher. This undermines data confidentiality and could potentially expose sensitive user or application data stored in the database.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Modern Events Calendar Lite and Pro plugins to version 7.37.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided, and patch availability is confirmed by the fixed version number.
