Administrators should consider disabling the use of Users Anywhere tags in content sources as a policy to prevent this bypass. Monitor vendor advisories for updates or patches addressing this issue. Until a fix is available, avoid relying solely on the personal-data output setting to protect sensitive user information.
Description
A vulnerability in the Users Anywhere extension for Joomla versions 1.0.0 through 3.0.0 allows an administrator-configured setting that disables output of user email addresses or usernames to be bypassed. Specifically, attributes within {user}, [email], or [username] tags can override these settings, potentially exposing sensitive user information. This bypass affects the personal-data output setting but does not circumvent policies that disallow Users Anywhere tags entirely in content sources.
