Technical Analysis

The PeachPay WordPress plugin for WooCommerce versions from 1.117.9 up to but not including 1.120.70 contains an information exposure vulnerability (CWE-200). It fails to perform necessary capability or ownership checks when responding to requests for an order's secret key. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can obtain the secret key for any paid order, enabling them to view sensitive customer details such as names, email addresses, postal addresses, and order contents.

Potential Impact

This vulnerability exposes sensitive customer information to unauthenticated attackers, potentially leading to privacy violations and misuse of personal data. Attackers can access identifying information and order details without authentication, increasing the risk of fraud or targeted attacks against customers.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in PeachPay version 1.120.70 and later. Users should update the plugin to version 1.120.70 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. Until updated, restrict access to the plugin endpoints or implement additional access controls to prevent unauthenticated retrieval of order secret keys.
