Published: 10/07/2026 (10/07/2026, 05:46:12 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Red Hat
Product: Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2

Description

A flaw was found in pulp-container when it authenticates to an upstream registry. Basic and bearer credentials from one remote are reused for later downloads in the same worker. A user who can sync a container remote, and can point that remote at a server they control, receives the username, password, or bearer token stored for a different remote, and can reuse that credential at the upstream registry. Content stored in Pulp is not changed, and the service is not stopped.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in pulp-container involves improper reuse of authentication credentials (basic and bearer tokens) across different remote registries within the same worker process. When a user syncs a container remote and points it to a malicious server, they can receive credentials stored for a different remote and reuse them at the upstream registry. This exposure allows unauthorized access to credentials but does not affect the integrity of stored content or service availability.

Potential Impact

The impact is credential exposure leading to unauthorized access to upstream registries using credentials intended for other remotes. There is no impact on data integrity or service availability. Confidentiality is compromised due to credential leakage, but no direct modification or denial of service occurs.
