Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in SSSD allows an unprivileged local user to repeatedly request master automount map updates via the autofs responder without proper authorization checks. This causes global cache invalidation and forces repeated lookups to backend directory providers, resulting in a denial of service due to degraded automount availability and elevated resource consumption. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 5.5 (medium severity), reflecting local attack vector, low complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, unchanged scope, and impact limited to availability.

Potential Impact

An unprivileged local attacker can cause a denial of service by degrading automount availability and increasing resource consumption on the affected system. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity.
