Published: 10/11/2026 (10/11/2026, 06:00:09 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: Envira Gallery

Description

The Envira Gallery WordPress plugin before 1.16.2 does not verify that a user holds the capability WordPress reserves for installing Envira Gallery WordPress plugin before 1.16.2 code before processing its setup-wizard Envira Gallery WordPress plugin before 1.16.2-installation request, and does not restrict the installation to its own curated list, allowing a Multisite subsite Administrator to install an arbitrary WordPress.org-published Envira Gallery WordPress plugin before 1.16.2 into the network-shared Envira Gallery WordPress plugin before 1.16.2 directory, a privilege Multisite reserves for the network Super Admin.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-104680 is an improper privilege management vulnerability (CWE-269) in the Envira Gallery WordPress plugin prior to version 1.16.2. The plugin fails to verify that the user holds the required capability for installing the plugin during setup-wizard installation requests. Consequently, a Multisite subsite Administrator can install arbitrary WordPress.org-published plugins into the network-shared plugin directory, bypassing the intended restriction that only the network Super Admin should have this privilege.

Potential Impact

An attacker with Multisite subsite Administrator privileges can install arbitrary plugins into the network-shared plugin directory. This could lead to unauthorized code execution or privilege escalation within the WordPress Multisite environment, violating the intended access controls.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Envira Gallery WordPress plugin to version 1.16.2 or later, where this privilege verification issue is fixed. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input data, but the affected versions are prior to 1.16.2, implying that 1.16.2 contains the fix. No vendor advisory was provided, so verify with the vendor for official patch confirmation.
