Published: 10/15/2026 (10/15/2026, 18:19:32 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: reactphp
Product: http

Description

A resource allocation vulnerability exists in reactphp http versions from 1.0.0 up to but not including 1.11.1. The ClientRequestStream::handleData() method appends response-header bytes to an internal buffer without size limits, allowing a remote server to cause unbounded memory growth by sending partial headers without termination. This can exhaust PHP memory and crash the event loop or worker process. The issue is fixed in version 1.11.1. Confidentiality and integrity are not impacted.

Technical Analysis

In reactphp http versions >=1.0.0 and <1.11.1, the ClientRequestStream::handleData() function appends response-header bytes to an internal buffer without enforcing a size limit. A remote server can exploit this by sending a valid status line and partial header but withholding the header terminator sequence (\r\n\r\n or \n\n), causing the buffer to grow indefinitely for the duration of the connection. This can lead to exhaustion of PHP's memory_limit, crashing the event loop or worker process. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-770 (Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling). The issue is resolved in reactphp http version 1.11.1.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows a remote server to cause unbounded memory consumption on clients using affected reactphp http versions by sending incomplete HTTP headers that never terminate. This can exhaust PHP memory limits and crash the event loop or worker process, resulting in denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity of data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade reactphp http to version 1.11.1 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated. Patch status is confirmed fixed in 1.11.1.
