Description

Plane, an open-source project management tool, has a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-104973. The issue exists in versions prior to 1.4.0 where webhook IP address validation is incomplete. Specifically, while webhook creation validates IP addresses, the delivery task performs a separate DNS resolution without validation, allowing DNS rebinding to bypass SSRF protections. This vulnerability has a high severity score of 7.6 and is fixed in version 1.4.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-104973 is a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the Plane project management tool before version 1.4.0. The flaw arises because IP address validation for webhooks occurs only during webhook creation in apps/api/plane/app/serializers/webhook.py. However, when sending webhook requests, the delivery task in apps/api/plane/bgtasks/webhook_task.py performs a separate DNS resolution without validating the resolved IP address. This allows an attacker to exploit DNS rebinding to bypass the SSRF protection mechanism. The vulnerability is addressed by the fix included in Plane version 1.4.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker with high privileges can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to bypass IP address validation protections via DNS rebinding, potentially causing unauthorized internal network requests. The CVSS 3.1 score of 7.6 reflects high impact on confidentiality and limited impact on integrity, with no impact on availability. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Plane to version 1.4.0 or later, where the SSRF vulnerability is fixed by validating the resolved IP address during webhook delivery tasks. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
