CVE-2026-105138: Insufficiently Protected Credentials in obot-platform obot
Description
Obot 0.12.0 before 0.26.2 contains an insufficiently protected credentials vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read static secrets set on MCP catalog entries by admins or power users. Basic users granted an entry by access control rules can request GET /api/all-mcps/entries/{entry_id} to obtain plaintext API keys or tokens and abuse them against backend services.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-105138 describes an insufficiently protected credentials vulnerability in obot-platform's obot product affecting versions >=0.12.0 and <0.26.2. Authenticated users with basic permissions, granted access to specific MCP catalog entries, can perform a GET request to /api/all-mcps/entries/{entry_id} to obtain static secrets such as API keys or tokens set by admins or power users. These plaintext credentials can then be abused against backend services, posing a significant security risk.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive static secrets (API keys or tokens) to authenticated users with basic privileges. This can lead to abuse of backend services using these credentials, potentially resulting in unauthorized actions or data access within the affected environment.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to MCP catalog entries to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious use of API keys or tokens. Avoid granting basic users unnecessary access to sensitive entries.
