VulnerabilityCVE-2026-105222cvecve-2026-105222
Published: 10/04/2026 (10/04/2026, 22:31:47 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: alexpechkarev
Product: google-maps

Description

The alexpechkarev/google-maps Laravel package through 12.16 disables TLS certificate verification by default because the bundled config sets ssl_verify_peer to FALSE, which is passed to CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER. On-path attackers can present any certificate to intercept Google Maps web-service requests, steal the API key from the query string, and tamper with responses.

Technical Analysis

The alexpechkarev/google-maps Laravel package versions from 1.0.3 through 12.16 disable TLS certificate verification by default because the bundled configuration sets ssl_verify_peer to FALSE, which is passed to CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER. This improper certificate validation enables on-path attackers to present any certificate and intercept communications with Google Maps web services. Attackers can steal API keys embedded in query strings and modify responses, compromising confidentiality and integrity of the data exchanged.

Potential Impact

An attacker positioned on the network path can intercept and manipulate Google Maps API requests made by the vulnerable package. This leads to exposure of API keys and potential tampering with API responses, which can result in unauthorized use of the API and corrupted data being processed by the application.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, users should manually enable TLS certificate verification by setting ssl_verify_peer to TRUE in the package configuration to ensure proper validation of SSL certificates.
