AI-suggested

Upgrade the Easy Social Icons plugin to version 4.0.3 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is required if the plugin is updated. If upgrading immediately is not possible, restrict upload permissions to trusted users and verify that no upload routes are exposed to unauthenticated visitors.

Description

The Easy Social Icons WordPress plugin before version 4.0.3 contains a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability due to improper sanitization of SVG files. This flaw allows users with the Author role or higher to upload malicious SVG files containing XSS payloads. Additionally, if an older version of the plugin exposes an upload route to unauthenticated visitors, the vulnerability can be exploited without requiring an account.
