Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Red Hat
Product: Red Hat Quay 3

Description

CVE-2026-105447 is an authorization flaw in Red Hat Quay 3 where read-only administrative users can access build trigger configurations containing repository write tokens. This allows authenticated users with read-only privileges to bypass restrictions and push container images to private repositories, resulting in privilege escalation.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Red Hat Quay 3 involves improper authorization when handling build trigger requests. Specifically, the application exposes trigger configuration details, including repository write tokens, to global read-only administrative users. An authenticated user with read-only access can query the build trigger API to retrieve these delegate tokens, enabling them to push arbitrary container images to private repositories. This bypasses the intended read-only limitations and leads to privilege escalation.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with read-only privileges can escalate their permissions by obtaining repository write tokens through the build trigger API. This allows them to push container images to private repositories, violating access controls and potentially compromising the integrity of container images stored in Red Hat Quay 3.
