Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-105976 is an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) in the Portfolio Filter Gallery WordPress plugin versions prior to 2.2.1. The plugin fails to enforce proper authorization on a set of AJAX actions, enabling users with Contributor-level privileges or higher to access and manipulate galleries and filters that they should not have permission to control. This can lead to unauthorized data modification and deletion within the plugin's gallery management features.

Potential Impact

Users with Contributor role privileges can exploit this vulnerability to read, modify, and delete galleries owned by other users and alter site-wide gallery filters. This compromises data integrity and confidentiality within the affected WordPress site, potentially disrupting site content and user data managed through the plugin.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Portfolio Filter Gallery plugin to version 2.2.1 or later, where proper authorization checks have been implemented to address this vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
