CVE-2026-106041: Missing Authorization in kvcache-ai Mooncake
Description
Mooncake Store master through 0.3.13.post1 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject completed LOCAL_DISK replicas through the NotifyOffloadSuccess RPC. Attackers can mount a local disk segment with a self-chosen client UUID, then attach replicas pointing at attacker-controlled endpoints to serve poisoned disk-tier reads and fake key existence.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-106041 describes a missing authorization vulnerability in kvcache-ai Mooncake Store up to version 0.3.13.post1. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to exploit the NotifyOffloadSuccess RPC to inject completed LOCAL_DISK replicas. By mounting a local disk segment with a self-chosen client UUID and attaching replicas that point to attacker-controlled endpoints, attackers can manipulate disk-tier reads and cause the system to report fake key existence.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can inject malicious replicas that serve poisoned data and fake key existence, potentially compromising data integrity and trustworthiness of disk-tier reads. This could lead to incorrect data being served to clients relying on the Mooncake Store, impacting application behavior dependent on this data.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the NotifyOffloadSuccess RPC interface to trusted entities only, if possible.
