Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-106166 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the NEX-Forms WordPress plugin before version 9.3.1. The flaw arises because the plugin fails to perform authorization, ownership, or request-validation checks prior to updating stored form entries. Consequently, unauthenticated attackers can manipulate form entries by referencing their sequential identifiers, enabling overwriting, permanent erasure, reassignment, or appending of data to existing form submissions.

Potential Impact

An attacker without authentication can modify any stored form entry arbitrarily, potentially leading to data corruption, loss of integrity, or unauthorized data manipulation within the affected WordPress site. This could affect the reliability of form data and may impact business processes relying on accurate form submissions.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version of the NEX-Forms plugin is available at version 9.3.1 or later. Users should upgrade to version 9.3.1 or above to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
