Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-106233 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Metrics component of Google Chrome versions before 155.0.8059.39. Exploitation requires that the attacker has already compromised the renderer process and can deliver a specially crafted HTML page to trigger arbitrary code execution outside the sandbox environment. This vulnerability was addressed in Chrome version 155.0.8059.39 as per the vendor advisory.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote code execution outside the sandbox, potentially leading to full system compromise. The attacker must first compromise the renderer process and then leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges beyond the sandbox restrictions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. Users should apply the official stable channel update provided by Google as referenced in the vendor advisory.
