Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-106247 is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the ANGLE graphics engine used by Google Chrome. It affects versions prior to 155.0.8059.39. Exploitation requires that the attacker has already compromised the renderer process, after which they can execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by delivering a specially crafted HTML page. The vulnerability is rated high severity with a CVSS 3.1 score of 8.3, reflecting network attack vector, high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and requiring user interaction with high attack complexity.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to arbitrary code execution outside the sandbox, potentially compromising the host system. This elevates the risk of full system compromise if the attacker can deliver the crafted HTML content and the user interacts with it. The vulnerability affects confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

A security update fixing this vulnerability is available in Google Chrome version 155.0.8059.39. Users and administrators should update to this version or later to remediate the issue. No additional mitigations are specified by the vendor advisory.
