Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves an out-of-bounds read in the ANGLE graphics engine used by Google Chrome. Versions of Chrome before 155.0.8059.39 are affected. Exploitation requires a remote attacker to deliver a specially crafted HTML page that triggers the out-of-bounds read, allowing memory outside the sandbox to be read. The issue is mitigated in Chrome version 155.0.8059.39 and later.

Potential Impact

An attacker can remotely read memory outside the sandbox environment, which could potentially expose sensitive information. The vulnerability does not allow code execution or sandbox escape but can lead to information disclosure. The Chromium security team rates this vulnerability as medium severity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. The vendor advisory confirms that a stable channel update addressing this issue has been released. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official update.
