Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-106378 is a privilege elevation vulnerability in the sandbox of Google Chrome on Mac platforms before version 155.0.8059.39. An attacker who has already compromised the renderer process can exploit this vulnerability via a crafted HTML page to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox environment. This breaks the sandbox security boundary, potentially leading to full system compromise. The vulnerability is rated with a CVSS v3.1 score of 8.3 (high severity) and requires user interaction to trigger (UI:R).

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with control over the renderer process to escape the sandbox and execute arbitrary code on the host system with elevated privileges. This can lead to full compromise of the affected Mac system running vulnerable versions of Chrome.

Mitigation Recommendations

Google has released an official fix in Chrome version 155.0.8059.39. Users and administrators should update to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
