Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-106418 is a vulnerability in Google Chrome's Network component where missing authorization enables a remote attacker to bypass the web origin policy by leveraging social engineering and crafted network traffic. This flaw affects versions of Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.39. The web origin policy is a critical security mechanism that restricts how documents or scripts loaded from one origin can interact with resources from another origin. The vulnerability is rated low severity by the Chromium security team. Google has released a stable channel update that addresses this issue in version 155.0.8059.39.

Potential Impact

An attacker can bypass the web origin policy, potentially allowing cross-origin interactions that should be restricted. However, exploitation requires social engineering and crafted network traffic, limiting the risk. The Chromium security team rates this vulnerability as low severity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later to apply the official fix. Users should ensure their browsers are kept up to date to mitigate this vulnerability.
