Technical Analysis

The Gutenverse Form WordPress plugin versions prior to 3.0.11 do not properly sanitize SVG icon markup stored in form blocks. Authenticated users with Contributor-level access or above can inject malicious SVG content that executes JavaScript when the form is viewed or previewed by other users. This constitutes a stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability that can lead to script execution in the context of other users' sessions.

Potential Impact

This vulnerability allows authenticated users with Contributor-level access or higher to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser sessions of other users who view or preview the affected form. This could lead to session hijacking, privilege escalation, or other malicious actions within the context of the affected WordPress site.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Gutenverse Form version 3.0.11. Users should upgrade to version 3.0.11 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated in the provided data.
