Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: miniupnp project
Product: miniupnpd

Description

CVE-2026-107159 is a divide-by-zero vulnerability in miniupnpd versions up to 2.3.11 when built with the --strict option. This flaw occurs in the ProcessSSDPData() function and can be triggered by an unauthenticated attacker on the local network sending a multicast M-SEARCH datagram with MX: 0 to port 1900. Exploitation causes the daemon to crash, resulting in denial of UPnP IGD service.

Technical Analysis

The miniupnpd daemon in the miniupnp project through version 2.3.11, when compiled with the --strict flag, contains a divide-by-zero vulnerability in the ProcessSSDPData() function. An unauthenticated attacker on the local network can send a specially crafted multicast M-SEARCH datagram with MX: 0 and a known ST value to UDP port 1900. This triggers a SIGFPE signal due to division by zero, crashing the daemon and causing denial of service for UPnP IGD functionality.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in a denial of service by crashing the miniupnpd daemon, disrupting UPnP IGD services on the affected device. There is no indication of privilege escalation or remote code execution. The attack requires local network access and no authentication.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, network administrators should consider restricting access to UDP port 1900 to trusted hosts to mitigate exploitation risk.
