Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-107178 is a cross-site scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability in the Image Photo Gallery Final Tiles Grid WordPress plugin versions prior to 3.6.16. The flaw arises from improper escaping of gallery lightbox configuration values before they are printed into inline scripts on pages embedding the gallery. This allows users with contributor-level or higher privileges to store malicious JavaScript code that executes in the context of other users viewing the gallery, potentially leading to session hijacking or other script-based attacks.
Potential Impact
An attacker with contributor-level access or above can inject arbitrary JavaScript into gallery pages, which will execute in the browsers of any users viewing those pages, including administrators. This can lead to unauthorized actions performed on behalf of users, theft of sensitive information, or further compromise of the WordPress site.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade the Image Photo Gallery Final Tiles Grid plugin to version 3.6.16 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. There is no indication that temporary mitigations or workarounds are available. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed by a vendor advisory, but the affected versions are clearly stated and the fixed version is 3.6.16.
