Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: qax-os
Product: excelize

Description

CVE-2026-107225 is an improper input validation vulnerability in the qax-os excelize Go library versions 2.8.0 through 2.11.0. The flaw allows negative style-table indices (FillID, BorderID, FontID) to bypass upper-bound checks and be used as negative slice indices when reading Excel cell styles. This can cause the application to panic during style extraction. No fix is currently available for this issue.

Technical Analysis

Excelize, a Go library for handling Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, versions 2.8.0 to 2.11.0 contain an input validation vulnerability in the GetStyle function. The predicates checking style-table indices only verify upper bounds, allowing negative FillID, BorderID, and FontID values from a crafted styles.xml file to pass unchecked. These negative values are then used as slice indices, which in Go results in a runtime panic. This vulnerability is classified under CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation) and CWE-129 (Improper Validation of Array Index). No patched version has been released as of the latest review.

Potential Impact

An attacker can supply a malicious styles.xml with negative style identifiers that cause the application using excelize to panic when reading cell styles. This results in a denial of service (application crash). There is no indication of confidentiality or integrity impact. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official fix or patch is currently available for this vulnerability. Users should monitor the vendor's advisories for updates. Until a fix is released, avoid processing untrusted or malicious Excel files with affected versions of excelize to prevent application crashes.
