Technical Analysis

The vulnerability exists because the Flatpak Remote Repositories API does not properly enforce authorization checks when accessing repositories by identifier. This unscoped lookup is also used by the mirror action, which can lead to unauthorized access and potential misuse of repository configurations and credentials across organizational boundaries within Katello, a component of Red Hat Hardened Images.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with limited permissions can access information and potentially manipulate flatpak remote repositories belonging to other organizations. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of repository details and credentials, and unauthorized repository creation using another organization's remote URLs and credentials. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 5.4 (medium severity), reflecting limited confidentiality and integrity impacts without availability impact.
