Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Infoblox NIOS allows an authenticated user with high privileges to perform argument injection in troubleshooting commands. This injection can result in privilege escalation, enabling the attacker to gain higher privileges than originally granted. The CVSS v3.1 score is 9.1, indicating a critical severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, high privileges required, no user interaction, and impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The affected versions are from 9.0.x through 9.1.0 inclusive.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated high privilege access can exploit this vulnerability to escalate their privileges further, potentially gaining full control over the affected system. This can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Infoblox NIOS device.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no patch or official fix information is provided, users should monitor Infoblox advisories for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict access to high privilege accounts and limit the use of troubleshooting commands to trusted administrators only.
