Description

CVE-2026-107730 is an integer overflow vulnerability in SumatraPDF version 3.7.0.22298. The flaw occurs in the LitParseHeader() function where an attacker-controlled calculation using signed 32-bit arithmetic can overflow, leading to an invalid pointer read and deterministic application crash. There is no evidence of code execution, information disclosure, or other impacts beyond denial of service. No patch or fixed version is currently available.

Technical Analysis

SumatraPDF 3.7.0.22298 contains an integer overflow vulnerability in the LitParseHeader() function located in src/LitDoc.cpp. The function calculates a section offset by adding hdrLen and nPieces * 16 using signed 32-bit arithmetic without validating the result. If the sum overflows to a negative value, it causes an invalid pointer dereference in LitU32(), resulting in a deterministic crash of the application. The vulnerability does not demonstrate any impact on confidentiality, integrity, or code execution.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability causes a denial of service through deterministic application termination due to an invalid read triggered by an integer overflow. There is no confirmed impact on confidentiality, integrity, or availability beyond application crash. No evidence exists for code execution or information disclosure.

Mitigation Recommendations

No fixed version or patch is currently available for this vulnerability. Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. Until a fix is released, avoid processing untrusted or maliciously crafted PDF files that could trigger this overflow.
