Description

CVE-2026-108013 is a vulnerability in HCL Software BigFix Platform related to the use of an outdated Mozilla CA certificate bundle. Versions of the bundle dated before 2026/10/20 trust certificates whose private keys have been compromised, allowing an on-path attacker to impersonate remote servers and tamper with files downloaded by the application. The issue is resolved by updating to the bundle version dated 2026/10/20 or later, available starting from BES Support v1520.

Technical Analysis

The BigFix Platform uses a Mozilla CA certificate bundle in PEM format to validate server certificates. Bundles dated before 2026/10/20 include trusted certificates with compromised private keys. This flaw allows an attacker positioned on the communication path to impersonate remote servers and modify files downloaded by the platform. The vulnerability is fixed by updating to the certificate bundle version 2026/10/20 or later, which is included starting with BES Support v1520.

Potential Impact

An attacker capable of performing a man-in-the-middle attack can impersonate legitimate servers and tamper with files downloaded by BigFix Platform, potentially leading to compromise of the integrity and confidentiality of the data. The CVSS 3.1 score is 6.8 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector, high impact on confidentiality and integrity, but requiring user interaction and high attack complexity.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available by updating the Mozilla CA certificate bundle to version 2026/10/20 or later. This fixed bundle is included starting from BES Support v1520. Users should upgrade to BES Support v1520 or later to remediate this vulnerability.
